Ok, so maybe I'm not really quitting livejournal. I just really wanted to do an update, but couldn't think of anything worth posting...which is suprising considering the fact that I have spent 3 out of the last 4 days in Bloomington helping my brother celebrate his last day of classes, and his friend James celebrate his 21st birthday.

The rest of this post is not very interesting...though the bottom paragraph does include a brief description of a short-shorts-themed dance party.

On Friday night, I went to the opera with Peggy, my brother Ian, his friend Kate, and my dad. This was pretty sweet. For those who don't know, my parents have been in the choruses of operas throughout my life, so I have seen a bunch of them, and this was my mom's last one ever. The opera was Turandot, which was Puccini's last (he died while writing it), and is supposed to be one of the all-time greats. I'll spare you the details, but it was pretty rad.

After the opera, I got in the car with Ian and Kate and drove down to Bloomington for a party they were calling "Ass-Pants Flashdance" or the short-shorts party. I wish I had pictures because it was pretty great. Ian had cut off a pair of jeans up to the crotch seam, and I had a pair of purple WNBA shorts that were short enough that my boxers stuck out at the bottom. The party got busted within 15 minutes of us getting there and most people went home. The only people left were half a dozen of Ian's closer friends, but this was Ass-Pants Flashdance, so we kept on dancing until we finished all of the beer and realized it was 5 in the morning.

Ok...after 2 nights of sleeping on my brother's floor, I need sleep. So I'm gonna go do that.

Well folks, it's been a wild ride, and after one crazy week that brought us more than two entries, fifteen comments, three icons and a hell of a lot of memories, the time has come to bring the chapter of my life titled "Livejournal" to an end. I know it's sad, but hopefully one day many years from now, we can all sit down together and retell the stories of yesteryear...I can hear it now... "Remember your first post, Cameron?" you'll say. How could I forget? "Tell us again about your sideburns, Cameron. And those high school girls in the limo. And what about your search for an icon?" And on and on...Oh, what a day that will be. But for now we'll have to part ways knowing that while we may not have changed the world, we sure had a good time trying.

So I'm driving over to Peggy's place the other day when a limo pulls up next to me at a red light and rolls down the window. A bunch of prom-going high school girls proceeded to spit some top shelf game at me by calling me a cutie and shouting cell phone numbers at me and insisting that they seriously wanted me to call them. In the middle of all this, one of the guys in the limo leaned his head out of the window to spit out some tobacco juice (classy...formal wear and chaw...no wonder the girls are trying to pick up guys on the way to prom). The encounter ended as the light turned green with one of them asking me if I was going to prom, which I thought was hilarious since I looked super haggard. As I drove away, I told them that I went to prom six years ago and we parted ways. I have to assume that it was the sideburns/handlebars that got them. They are pretty irresistible to women in general, and must be doubly so for girls whose male counterparts can only dream of having this kind of lush, full chops.

As soon as I get my hands on a digital camera (read: stop being lazy and ask to use one of the four that are in this apartment) I am going to put together a sweet picture of them for my user pic, but since I don't have one right now, this ascii mercator projection version will have to suffice.

You know how they say that there is no way to project a globe onto a flat surface without distorting it at least a little? Well it turns out it is also no way to recreate facial hair with slashes and backslashes without having it look like the Weezer logo...oh well...I think that my work here is done.

Well, it was bound to happen eventually...A combination of gentle prodding by Peggy and the desire to be able to see what she might be saying about me in her locked entries have led to me get an LJ. I know I am jumping on the trolly pretty late in the game, but hopefully my life will prove interesting enough to sustain this thing for at least a little while...ok...well I guess it is time for me to add something remotely entertaining to this thing so that there might be some reason to read it...so here goes...
